Souta Kiln

Souta Kiln is based in Arita, Saga prefecture in Japan,
and making their original porcelain table ware.
Japanese porcelain was born in Arita more than
400 years ago,
and it is one of the biggest porcelain industrial area in Japan.
The tableware made in Arita town, is called
“Aritayaki”.
Souta kiln's porcelains are meticulously made in
the traditional Aritayaki method,
but the products fit our modern lifestyle because of its original design.

Imabari Towel is located in the northern part of Ehime
prefecture, Shikoku, and has a history of 100 years.

Otanikisaku shouten

A Producer Which Persists in Producing Takaoka doki (Takaoka copperware) Founded in 1939 in Takaoka
“Otani Kisaku Shouten Co. Ltd.”which was founded in 1939. It is a brand that produces and deals with casting products of various metalic fine arts and crafts including " Takaoka doki (Takaoka copperware)" which is one of the traditional crafts representing Japan in "Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture", a town that was established over 400 years. Thanks to an adivisory supervision by a sculptor, Mr. Sotaro Saegusa, the products which can get along with daily lives unselfconsciously such as figures of the traditional Chinese 12-animal zodiac, the incense burner & incense holder, or any other various fine arts are lined-up.
Every product of Otani Kisaku Shoten is wholly processed by the craftsmen from the casting to finishing and coloring in
order to be commercialized.
It deals mostly products of Takaoka tekki (Takaoka ironware) which is the origin of Takaoka doki (Takaoka copperware).
And the iron casting which is produced out by a traditional technique called sand mold casting may make us feel heavy
weight and the deeply tastful texture which is come along
with the foundry sand.

We started our activities in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
Aiming to make Fukushima a place where both local people and visitors can happily spend time,
we hold events for handmade goods, as well as community development activities in cooperation
with the government, as well as plan and sell original products.

Sakiori CHICKA

In Aomori Prefecture, located in the cold northern part of Japan, where cotton could not be cultivated, warm cotton was a very precious commodity. Therefore, even if the cloths became tattered, people lived there could not throw them away but teared them into thin strips eventually and reweaved to reproduce a new cloth, which is a handcraft
technique or the woven fabric, called SAKIORI.
The materials used in Sakiori CHICKA are not only mainly old kimonos but also colorful fabrics and threads are combined to be woven, which can be realized today. In a small atelier where to see a view of Aomori sea, it is carefully woven one by one using an old shaped handloom called Jibata.
